Yamazaki Daily Shokunin Onigiri @ Imado
From the outside, this looks like a regular old Convenienve store, but when you walk in you feel as though you have been transported through time. This small conbini is one of the only conbini that still makes its rice balls from scratch every morning and they are sold out before lunch time. These rice balls or Onigiri are called Shokunin Onigiri because they are made with more oil and salt and are twice the size of normal rice balls. The workers from factories nearby stop by every morning to grab one before their shifts. Grab em while they last!
100mile
Tochigi Leather @ Tochigi
Tsunekazu's 100 mile recommendation has familial roots, as his great-grandfather, before moving to Asakusa to start Tomit Enterprises, was originally from Tochigi. Similar to Asakusa, Tochigi is an area of leather artisans, factories, and a strong community. Tochigi Leather is one of the biggest leather producers in Japan and is highly recommended by Tsunekazu. Though it is hard to get a tour of the facilities outside of the open hour times, the surrounding area has preserved the aura of traditional Japan and has many buildings dating back to the Edo era. Definitely worth a day trip out to see!

Coulis @ Shintomicho
This small shop is hidden on the second floor of a backstreet in Shintomicho station. After passing by the store multiple times and seeing the chefs shuffling around the space, Johnny decided to check out this small french cuisine restaurant. Now, he can confidently say out of all the restaurants he has been to, this is one of his favorites! With its reasonable lunch and dinner prices and top quality fresh ingredients from Tsukiji and Nagano, this restuarant is a must see in East Tokyo!
100mile
Surfers @ Zushi
Johnny's 100 mile recommendation is this surfers hub located in Zushi in Kanagawa. On the patio you can take in beautiful views of the beach and watch surfers catching some waves on windy days. Used for live performances as well as Yoga classes, Surfers has built up a strong community in the Zushi area. Many couples also have wedding parties against the background of the setting sun.

Panda Juice, located right by the Skytree in Oshiage, is known for its fully organic smoothie menu. The owner of this restaurant was gravely ill three years ago, but thanks to the different juices and smoothies she drank, she was able to fully recover! Since she has been working hard to teach people about the powers of healthy living and organic foods. She uses all local vegetables and is a big part of the local community.

Iseya @ Saitama
Originally from Akita, Masatatsu recomends this Akita specialty restuarant located in Saitama. Though Akita is well known for being the birthplace of the Akita family of dogs, Kiri-tampo, a style of nabe famous in Akita is also worth trying on a cold day. Run by Masatatsu's childhood friend, he guarantees the food is authentic and delicious.

Tousyogama @ Kappabashi
Located in Kappabashi, the specialty store gets its places and utensils from a manufacturer in Gifu. This store is known for having out there designs that are unique and that highlight the shapes and colors of Japanese food. Tomo's wife, Mu, also uses these plates in her own kitchen for different parties and for her cooking classes. Fairly priced, these plates make the perfect souvenir for the restaurant pioneer!
100mile
Blue Moon @ Hayama
Located just an hour away from Tokyo, Hayama is one of the lesser known coastal areas in Japan. However, the picturesque Isshiki beach is ranked in the top 100 beaches in the world over Waikiki beach in Hawaii! Though beautiful in all seasons, the beaches come alive in Summer with seasonal stores that pop up on the beach for the summer, including Blue Moon. Kick back, take in the sunset, and drink a beer on a world-ranked beach located right next to one of the Emperor's Imperial Villas.

This small restaurant is run by a man who is labelled a Comrade of Cheese. No really, he has a plaque for it. Wanting to create a restaurant that utilizes cheese, the owner of A-works decided to make a restaurant which specializes in cheesecake! With tons of different flavors to choose from, a Thai based food menu, plenty of space to spread out and good music, this quaint little restaurant is a great place to stop by on your way out west. Make sure you salute the cheese!

Nokogiriyama @ Chiba
51 miles from here and through an unground tunnel, you find yourself in Nokogiriyama in Chiba Prefecture. Known for its pictureesque scenery and beautiful buddhist statues that have been preserved since the Edo period , this is the perfect day trip for natural lovers and those interested in traditional Japanese culture. Jigoku Nozomi, or the view of hell, is an expansive valley you can look down on after taking the cable car up the mountain. The shaved ice is an absolute must according to Lawrence!

Pizza Slice @Shibuya/Omotesando
When a guy from New York says the pizza is good, then you know it is! Pizza Slice is one of the only resturants in Tokyo that offers real New York style pizza, which we promise you will be craving after a few days of Ramen. Located in the heart of Tokyo, not only is Pizza Slice easily accesible, there are also no corn or weird strings of unknown vegetables, just good old pepperoni and sausage slices. The best part of this shop is that the slices come in American size boxes so you can share it easily at a home party or with some friends at a picnic!

Ishikawa Brewery @ Haijima
While most of us would take the hour long train ride to Haijima from Shibuya, Andrew likes to bike the Tama river to this longstanding Japanese sake factory, Ishikawa Brewery. Known for their famous Tamajiman sake, this Brewery has been in business since the late 1800's and continues to produce sake using the local tama river water and paying homage to the nature filled Tama area. Not only can you learn about the history of the brewery itself, you can also sit down for a nice meal after your tour at the restuarant on site!

Vivienne's 1 mile recommendation was hard for her to choose but ultimately, she couldn't help by recommend Bansho. This small hidden gem in Asakusa is run by a lady in her 80's who's hobby is wearing kimono's. From the outside, you can't tell what kind of restuarant, but once inside, you find yourself teleported back to 80's Showa Japan with small dishes and a nice selection of Shochu. Most of the Customers are older, but it is a quaint little bar that makes you feel at home. It's definitely a place that is local, cozy, and the real Japanese Izakaya vibe.

Hoshi Onsen @ Gunma
Hoshi Onsen is a lesser known Onsen in Gunma, but its highlight is the large wooden mixed bath which is very rare to find in Japan nowadays. While there are times for female only bathing and seperate outdoor female and male baths, the gorgeous cathedral esque space is definitely worth the trip to go see. Good for a day trip out of Tokyo or for a short weekend stay, this place also has Ryokan rooms and a restuarant included in the premises. The website warns however, to bring cash with you as there are very few ATMs in this quaint rural area.
