Asakusa Kokonoe @ Asakusa
A former student of Hollywood Digital University runs this small store located in the heart of Asakusa's Nakamise street leading up the Senso-ji. With so many options to choose from , its hard to know which stores are authenic and which are just tourist traps but this place really delivers. Kokonoe serves over 8 different stypes of fried deliciousness to choose from and promises a great snack for wandering around the Asakusa area.

Yamanakako @ Yamanashi
One of the lesser known lakes by the foot of Mt. Fuji, Kenichi doesn't just recommend this place in summer, but also in the winter. With the romantic winter illuminations and museum full of Santa Claus statues from all of the world, Yamanakako is the perfect day trip for couples and friends looking to get away from the crowds at Kawaguchiko.

Canned Crab Bar @ Yoyogi Uehara
Delicious crab, red wine, a selection of french, italian, and Japanese fusion... and yet... Wine is 100 yen?? This place is a treasure found by our ambassador Mona Neuhauss. Though the store name insinuates a lot of canned creations, All of the crab is actually fresh and there are no can openers in sight! Mona recommends the Crab Croquettes.

Iida Shokuhin @ Kanagawa
This tofu shops owner was so worried when Mona said that she was going to introduce it to WIRED Hotel because she thought all of Tokyo wouldn't fit into this small little shop. Fresh Tofu is prepared everyday and if you bring your own pet bottle you can take home a bottle full of Soy milk as well. Mona said it was so fresh and organic that in a few days time the soy milk had turned back into tofu!

Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association @ Toranomon
Did you know that located right in the heart of Minato ward is the center of all things Japanese Sake related? Our ambassador Charles Stewart has the inside scoop into this center for learning more about "Nihonshu." Not only can you learn about the history of japanese sake, you can also try many different type as well. It is all you can drink, but Charles warns not to party too hard within the facilities itself!
100mile
Kuramoto Kakou Izumabashi Dining @ Kanagawa
This small sake brewery located in Kanagawa has been in business since 1857 and boasts a completely self-sustaining Sake production process. Growing the rice for the sake themselves, they also have unlimited sake tastings (seems to be a theme for Charles). Kuramoto Kakou is a restuarant that recently opened on the facilities with dishes designed specificially to be paired with Izumabashi sake. A must see for Japanese Sake lovers.

Yamazaki Daily Shokunin Onigiri @ Imado
From the outside, this looks like a regular old Convenienve store, but when you walk in you feel as though you have been transported through time. This small conbini is one of the only conbini that still makes its rice balls from scratch every morning and they are sold out before lunch time. These rice balls or Onigiri are called Shokunin Onigiri because they are made with more oil and salt and are twice the size of normal rice balls. The workers from factories nearby stop by every morning to grab one before their shifts. Grab em while they last!
100mile
Tochigi Leather @ Tochigi
Tsunekazu's 100 mile recommendation has familial roots, as his great-grandfather, before moving to Asakusa to start Tomit Enterprises, was originally from Tochigi. Similar to Asakusa, Tochigi is an area of leather artisans, factories, and a strong community. Tochigi Leather is one of the biggest leather producers in Japan and is highly recommended by Tsunekazu. Though it is hard to get a tour of the facilities outside of the open hour times, the surrounding area has preserved the aura of traditional Japan and has many buildings dating back to the Edo era. Definitely worth a day trip out to see!

Johnny's 100 mile recommendation is this surfers hub located in Zushi in Kanagawa. On the patio you can take in beautiful views of the beach and watch surfers catching some waves on windy days. Used for live performances as well as Yoga classes, Surfers has built up a strong community in the Zushi area. Many couples also have wedding parties against the background of the setting sun.

Located in Kappabashi, the specialty store gets its places and utensils from a manufacturer in Gifu. This store is known for having out there designs that are unique and that highlight the shapes and colors of Japanese food. Tomo's wife, Mu, also uses these plates in her own kitchen for different parties and for her cooking classes. Fairly priced, these plates make the perfect souvenir for the restaurant pioneer!

This small restaurant is run by a man who is labelled a Comrade of Cheese. No really, he has a plaque for it. Wanting to create a restaurant that utilizes cheese, the owner of A-works decided to make a restaurant which specializes in cheesecake! With tons of different flavors to choose from, a Thai based food menu, plenty of space to spread out and good music, this quaint little restaurant is a great place to stop by on your way out west. Make sure you salute the cheese!

Nokogiriyama @ Chiba
51 miles from here and through an unground tunnel, you find yourself in Nokogiriyama in Chiba Prefecture. Known for its pictureesque scenery and beautiful buddhist statues that have been preserved since the Edo period , this is the perfect day trip for natural lovers and those interested in traditional Japanese culture. Jigoku Nozomi, or the view of hell, is an expansive valley you can look down on after taking the cable car up the mountain. The shaved ice is an absolute must according to Lawrence!
